Car Engine Lights

Car engine lights are the main notification measure that you car can use when to announce you that something is not quite functioning the way it should and that your engine needs to be looked at as soon as possible. There is a small difference between car engine lights and the rest of your dashboard light. Some light can flash in simple situations such as the car door is not completely shut or your trunk is still open. The most annoying situation is when your seat bet is not on and your light will flash continuously and sometimes even a sound will notify you of the situation.

You car engine lights will flash only in critical situations that can truly affect your car in very negative ways so they are signs that must not be ignored and taken into serious consideration.

Your car engine lights depend surely on the on board diagnostics system that your car has. This way if you are not a mechanic that knows when the engine is having problems simply by listening to the sound it makes when it is pushed a bit or by the way that you car handles, you can now have some notification that your engine is encountering difficulties and you should go for a check up or start to worry a bit. Off course the best course of action to take when your car engine lights start flashing is to take your car to a certified, professional mechanic that can remedy the situation efficiently.

In this small article I will try to explain to you why your car engine lights might start flashing all of a sudden and what you should do.

  • First of all stay calm because you car will not blow up the moment your car engine lights are triggered.
  • Electronics will always have some small faults that can throw small wrenches in your mechanisms thus small electrical burp could send a small electrical pulse to your car’s main diagnostics system and in such a manner your car engine lights will go off and in this case they will also go back to normal in about one or two minutes so this is not something you should actually worry about.
  • Some emission problems could also trigger your car engine lights because you might have a cracked or faulty vacuum hose in your engine configuration. Again a relatively small problem that can be resolved with a quick visit to your local mechanic.
  • As time passes and the car goes throw the daily wear and tear you spark plugs may start to loose their integrity and miss fire. This way a small burst of electrical currents will escape and touch the engine thus letting the sensors know something is offhand. Your car engine light can begin to flicker in this situation and you best go and change the spark plugs as quick as possible for your car’s performance and to extend it’s lifetime.

Simply put if your car engine lights start to flash wait and see for how long it goes on.. if they go back in one minute then it was a minor problem however if they stay lit , stay clam and go to the mechanic to check it out quick. Stay safe !
